A great day was had by all. It started off by the beautiful sunshine which made the Gold shirts of Bengeo Tigers shine all the more. The solid wall of Gold was an impenetrable force that Wodson Park were unable to break. Wave after wave of quality football was unleashed against the opposition to which very few teams would have been able to cope with. It was only a matter of time before the first goal came, when from a beautifully taken corner by Dylan was begging for some brave trojan to connect with the ball, The trojan was in the form of a golden haired Pegasus (named Aiden by his proud parents) flying effortlessly in the air to bullet the header in the goal… 1:0.

The good football continue throughout the first half when after heavy pressure by Dylan on Wodson’s left back forced a throw in. Aiden’s quick thinking threw the ball to Jamie who skillfully chested the ball on the turn. This gave Jamie a head start towards goal and effortlessly, using his left and right feet, skip passed two defenders, which just left the goalie to beat, was brought down in the box for a penalty. Such was the Bengals confidence unsurprisingly, all the players wanted to take the spot kick. The duty was given to Dylan who’s confidence and composure betrayed his years when the goalie, although valiantly went the right way, could not stop the strongly struck shot placed in the corner… 2:0. The half time whistle soon came.

The opposition lifted by the half time talk started the second half with more confidence and created a few half chances of whom Sonny and Ischa made last moment tackles each to save goals. With the team re-hydrated they continued with their task and quickly stifled any more attacks. Then half way through the second half Ischa who’s continual early interceptions paid off when after one such interception, passed to Dominic who skillfully dummies the Wodson left back and crossed the ball beautifully for Aiden to acrobatically slot home into the corner of the goal… 3:0.

The final whistle soon blew and eruptions of joy on the field and praises from the sideline completed a wonderful day and proud moment to all Parents and Grandparents. Well done to all players, everyone carried out their roles on the field with great character and tremendous self belief which in unison made it impossible for the opposition to get into any rhythm.

Finally, thank you to all Parents and Grandparents for the support given to the players which made the day a truly memorable moment.
