Bengeo Tigers FC

Third in the league table met second in this encounter, and Bengeo came out on top to narrow the gap with a game in hand.

Manager Dave Edwards made some brave positional changes for the start of the game and his judgement was spot on as Tigers performed superbly in a tough, physical battle.

The first goal chance came to the visitors after 6 minutes, when they hit the post and shortly afterwards, a clearance from keeper Jack Edwards was headed on by Neal Rowe into the path of leading scorer Georgie Hunt, who was welcomed back after a two week lay off, but his shot was just over.

Codicote threatened again, and forced Jack Edwards to make a fine save at his near post, which was quickly followed by a superb tip over by the Tigers custodian. Bengeo started to assert more pressure, and in the 23rd minute, Neal Rowe and Charlie Harris combined to put Louis Bowen through, but his effort was just wide of the target. Georgie Hunt then turned provider for Louis Bowen again, but this time the attempt was cleared for a corner. Codicote partially cleared the resulting corner, only as far as Jake Buzzing, who hit a lovely ball back into the danger area and Georgie Hunt met it on the half volley to open the scoring.

The 2nd period saw the visitors going all out for the equaliser and Jack Edwards was forced into action again, when a free-kick was not cleared, and he leapt to punch the ball over the bar. Bengeo replied with another effort from Georgie Hunt, and a nice piece of skill from Louis Bowen, when he followed up his own overhead kick, with a shot that bounced agonizingly wide.

With 5 minutes to go, Jack Edwards pulled off another superb point blank save and the clearance was completed by Charlie Edwards to ensure the victory.

Manager Dave Edwards was obviously delighted with the peformance and even more pleased that the boys did exactly what was asked of them and accepted the new positions and formation without question.
