U9 Siberians kick season off with win

The U9 Siberians kicked off the season with a good 9-3 aggregate win over a much improved Abbey Youth side.

The first game saw Bengeo win 6-0. Playing some terrific one and two touch football the boys raced into an early lead and rarely looked like slipping up. The whole team was superb, playing football of a very good standard. Special mentions go to Reece Giddens who had an exceptionally good game, and Max Lawrence who’s delivery from wide areas created lots of chances for the strikers. Goals came from William Orton (3), Keaton Weeks (2) and Reece Giddens

The second game was much tougher. Abbey started much the brighter and raced into a deserved two goal lead. An injury to Lewis Thomas forced Bengeo into changes that could have rocked the boys further, yet the reshuffle seemed to galvanize the side. A William Arch goal before half-time reduced the deficit and although Abbey restored the two goal lead early in the second half, the boys never gave up and managed to grab a draw through an own goal and a speculative 20 yard effort from Patrick Sinfield.  The spirit of the side was typified by Alphie Marshall and Lewis Matthews, who worked unselfishly in midfield.

A good start to the season.
