Firstly, what a fabulous morning weather wise to play football in and could we continue where we left off last week against Wormley Reds?

With regards to the first half, we made a very good start and contained the ball very well with again some great passing and moveing and we were testing their keeper a fair bit as the half went on. On 17 minutes, Joe Vanderweele picked out Toren Parkhouse who in turn picked out Owen Skinner on the left hand side who then crossed low and hard in to the area and Callum Hillier was there to tap it in 1-0! Our hard work so far was starting to pay off!! Why did this half of football have to stop!?

The second half commenced and the first 5 minutes was pretty good possession wise and then bang - East Herts started to get hold of the ball and play football and at times we struggled with their dominance and they eventually broke through our defence on 10 minutes of the second half played. 1-1, game on!!

The goal really did knock the wind out of our sails and we just switched off after the goal and the good football from the first half was not evident anymore. We changed things to see if we could get a grip on the game and to be fair, there was an improvement but with 10 minutes to go, they crossed the ball in from the right hand side which very unfortunatley hit one of our players on the back and then the deflection lobbed the ball over everybody and into our goal with our goal keeper completely wrong footed. 1-2 and we really now had to pick ourselves up and salvage something from the game.

We started pushing again and we gained a free kick from a good position just outside their area and the shot just went over the bar. They held out and it stayed 1-2 to East Herts.

We learned a valuable lesson today in that we have to play football over the whole hour of football and work hard as a team and each other, and I am confident that this will happen sooner rather than later.

Man of The Match this week: Henry Ives

Solid in the back, great tackling, good passing and got forward to attack and support his team mates - Well done Henry, keep up the good work!

Kind regards,
