An early start and a long journey saw our boys travel to Flamstead in the 2nd round of the County Cup. After a harsh defeat the day before it was important to put in a goodperformace and the boys were asked to get at the opposition early and to win their personel battles and every 50-50 tackles. A good opening by both teams meant it was a tight game with lots of midfield tackles.

Oliver began to dominate the left side of midfiels as well as managing to get forward to support Lewis in attack. Rob and Thomas were getting stronger by the minute and Ben and Alex were winning everthing and making life easy for Jack.

We needed a breakthrough as we were playing with the slope in the first half. A through ball from Rob to Thomas who flew dowwn the right wing to cross the ball to the arriving Oliver and bang what a goal...top corner...get in there. We really can move the ball around when we are on our game.

We really started to dominate and a second goal looked sure to come. The Flamstead keeper made two blinding saves and we knew we would need another goal before halftime. Another raid down the right hand side and another flying run from Rob and a bullet shot into the back of the net 2-0. Flamstead were not giving up and a good attack saw the ball cleared for a corner. A good cross and a clearance by Alex saw the ball at the edge of our area and a deflection took the ball away from Jack and into the net. 2-1 game on. The next goal was vital and fortunately it was from our striker Lewis who found himself in space in the area and bang 3-1 wahta cool finish. Halftime and a chance to get the boys refocused. We knew that playing up the slope would mean greater efforts and the boys were told to play like we were still level. Even with a 2 goal advantage the next goal was going to be the vital one. Alex and Ben were spraying the passes out from the back and Thomas and Rob were putting in the effort. Dylan was having a fine game and was finding his passes into Lewis who turned and bang another fin finish 4-1 Ben then received a loose ball inside our own half and dribbled it forward, he rode a tackle, saw the  space open before him he pulled back the leg and bang...what a goal...fantastic, well done Ben more of those please. 5-1

The boys were really passing like we know they can and another fine run from Thomas into the box who shaped to pass and the steer it into the bottom left 6-1 Flamstead were still giving it their all and Harry timed his run into the box to perfection for a fine finish and the boys knew the game was won. Harry continued to pressurize the full backs and he caused a defender into a mistimed clearance, the ball fell to Dylan whose perfect pass found Thomas... a beautiful cross straight onto the head of Lewis for his hatrick. What a great hatrick.. left foot, right foot and a header

8-1 the final result which was a brilliant result and lots of happy faces at the end..the boys looked happy as well. The Flamstead manager was very generous in his praise of the boys today and i was proud of everyone of you.
