Ware Youth Whites 3-7 Under 13 Sumatrans

Fielding a weakened side due to holidays and illness, the Sumatrans u13’s took on Ware Youth Whites, away from home, with just ten men.

Bengeo showed that they were “up for it” right from the start as Miles broke clear to put us 1-0 ahead. However, a soft penalty and goal from a break meant the boys found themselves 2-1 own after 25 minutes.

This side is made of stronger stuff this season though and another goal from Miles and a belter from Ben Neate made it 3-2 at the break.

It was end to end in the second half as another goal from Miles restored the two goal advantage, before our failure to close the ball down meant Ware pulled a goal back again.

Miles stepped up with a tremendous free kick, before a powerful shot from Ben Brett and a delicate chip from Tom Claydon finished off an awesome performance, making it 7-3 at the final whistle.

Playing with ten men meant total commitment from the boys. Connor acted as a fifth defender whilst Max, James, Ben and Charlie battled for everything at the back.

Michael and Tom Curnock produced titanic performances in midfield, whilst Ben Brett and Tom Claydon squeezed the midfield to help reduce the effect of the numerical disadvantage. Miles produced an unbelievable performance with four goals and constantly pressurising the Ware defence.

This was one of, if not “the” best battling performance since I took over this team and the lads made me proud to be their manager today.

Fair play to Ware, who made this an exciting and sporting game too.

Impossible to pick one man of the match as all of the boys played out of their skins, so the whole team will celebrate with a trip to McDonalds!
