Squad: J.Hickman, H.Ives, B.Grover. J.Crosby, M.Fell, O.Skinner (C), C.Hillier, S.Jones, O.Clinkscales, H.Orton, T.Parkhouse, M.Grundey, C.Evans & J.Vanderweele.
Today we were again on our travels for this weeks fixture, away to Bury Rangers Reds after last weeks cancellation of our fixture to East Herts Youth.
It was important today to get the three points and keep the pressure bubbling away at the top of the table and to put some distance between us and Bury Rangers Reds who have been recently creeping up the table.
We started pretty well and the midfield was working very hard to try and get the ball up to our forwards. We had a couple of long range shots early on but nothing that was really worrying Bury Rangers.
On 10 minutes, Max Fell found Henry Orton in space and in Henry style he buried it only to be denied by the off side flag!
We kept plugging away and on 24 minutes, Callum Evans picked up a clearance ball and went for goal. His effort hit the right post with there keeper well beaten and it bounced in off the post - Goal!! 0-1.
The goal settled us down and we continued to pass the ball round well. But on 27 minutes Bury Rangers got a high ball in over our midfield and it caught out our defence with Bury Rangers finishing well to make 1-1.
Half time came and we decided to rest a couple of players and change the formation slightly to get our wingers more in to the game and just basically to get in and attack Bury Rangers.
The second half got underway and our changes were working with both Owen Skinner and Max Fell finding the ball, atttacking and passing in to the forwards.
On 39 minutes Callum Hillier found time and space and went for goal and put his effort past there keeper to make it 1-2!
Our confidence was growing and Joe Vanderweele was making a big difference in midfield for us. Bury Rangers were not really troubling our defence now and on 43 minutes, Callum Hillier again found space and with a very cheeky lob, he lobbed the keeper from just outside the box to make it 1-3!
We were now playing with great composure and focus and Joe Vanderweele went on a run and found the back of the net on 46 minutes to make it 1-4!
And the confidence just kept growing and growing. Callum Evans found Toren Parkhouse who went past three players on 52 minutes and scored to make it 1-5!
We never let off the gas now that our tiger tails were well up hunting for more goals.
On 56 minutes we attacked again with Joe Vanderweele picking out Henry Orton. Henry unleashed a shot on goal only for it to hit a Bury Rangers defender but in a moment of madness, the ball that hit the defender was hit so hard that it came back off him and hit Henry Orton who deflected it in to the Bury Rangers net to make it 1-6 to Bengeo Tigers!!
And that is how it stayed until the end of the game.
WELL DONE LADS!!! Another 3 valuable points were gained away from home today.
Man of The Match:-
Today, every player played very well indeed but two players stood out for me. Well done to Callum Hillier for working hard and scoring two great goals and well done to Joe Vanderweele, who came of the bench for the second half and worked very hard in midfield and in getting forward as well as getting a goal himself.
Well done Callum and Joe. Please keep up the great work that you both showed today!!
