Under 12 1-4 Hoddesdon Town Whites

A very warm Sunday morning saw our second fixture of the season against a Hoddesdon team coming off the back of two league wins. I knew it was going to be hard because of only having the 11 players; no-one was going to get a rest. We seemed to start with a certain degree of apprehension and this showed when Hoddesdon went ahead after 5 mins. Once again we rallied and I was very impressed with the way the boys recovered and started to dominate the latter stages of the 1st half. We started to play some very football and created a couple of chances with Liam and Luke both going close.

I emphasized the importance of starting the way 2nd half as we had finished the 1st and this is exactly what the boys did. We totally dominated the first 10 mins before Luke banged in the equalizer. At this stage there only looked as though there would be one winner. We were playing well and the work rate was as high as I’ve ever seen this team produce. Unfortunately, the goal that would have seen us go on and win the game eluded us and in the end the heat and work rate to effect and understandably took its toll. Liam went closest, during this period, with a chance that hit him more than him hitting it and this somehow ended up going narrowly wide. Hoddesdon ultimately ran out 4-1 winners but the result didn’t really reflect the game. We could and probably should have had a penalty late on but it didn’t happen and wouldn’t have affected the result too much. We will have two more players available next week so will mean that the boys will be able to get a drink and a rest which is vital in this tough league. Well done for Sunday boys, I thought the performances in the first three games have been great despite only picking up one win. Keep putting in the effort and playing the football and we will have a good season.
